Best Christmas Song Ever (PS – Its about Jesus)

BEHOLD YOUR KING - JESUS CHRIST

My favourite Christmas song of all time is O Holy Night. The biggest reason I think its among the best is because it declares much of who Jesus is and what he came to do…really, what Christmas is all about.

Tonight I’ll be giving a short message at our Christmas Eve gathering with the Converge Church family, friends and neighbours and I’ll be referring to many of the lines in this song because it speaks of hope, joy, worship, wonder, humility, grace, understanding, salvation, love, reconciliation, peace, justice, thanksgiving, power & glory. Behold your King!

O Holy Night

O holy night
The stars are brightly shining
It is the night
Of the dear Savior’s birth
Long lay the world
In sin and error pining
Till He appeared
And the soul felt its worth
A thrill of hope
The weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks
A new and glorious morn

Fall on your knees
Oh hear the angel voices
O night divine
O night when Christ was born
O night
O holy night O night divine

Led by the light
Of faith serenely beaming
With glowing hearts
By His cradle we stand
So led by light
Of a star sweetly gleaming
Here came the wise men
From Orient land
The King of kings
Lay thus in lowly manger
In all our trials
Born to be our Friend

He knows our need
To our weakness is no stranger
Behold your King
Before Him lowly bend
Behold your King
Before Him lowly bend

Truly He taught us
To love one another
His law is love
And His gospel is peace
Chains shall He break
For the slave is our brother
And in His name
All oppression shall cease
Sweet hymns of joy
In grateful chorus raise we
Let all within us
Praise His holy name

Christ is the Lord
Oh praise His name forever
His power and glory evermore proclaim
His power and glory evermore proclaim

Its all about Jesus.

    Verse 1:

It’s not just about the manger
    Where the baby lay
It’s not all about the angels
Who sang for him that day

It’s not just about the shepherds
Or the bright and shining star
It’s not all about the wisemen
    Who travelled from afar

    Chorus:
    It’s about the cross
    It’s about my sin
It’s about how Jesus came to be born once
So that we could be born again

    It’s about the stone
    That was rolled away
So that you and I could have real life someday

    It’s about the cross
    It’s about the cross

    Verse 2:

It’s not just about the presents
    Underneath the tree
It’s not all about the feeling
That the season brings to me
It’s not just about coming home
To be with those you love
It’s not all about the beauty
In the snow I’m dreaming of

    Repeat Chorus

Verse 3: * added by the Ball Brothers
It’s not just about the good things
    In this life I’ve done
    It’s not about the treasures
or the trophies that I’ve won.

    It’s not about the righteousness
    that I find within.
It’s all about His precious blood
that saved me from my sin.

    Repeat Chorus

    Bridge:

The beginning of the story is wonderful and great
But it’s the ending that can save you and that’s why we celebrate

    It’s about the cross
    It’s about my sin
It’s about how Jesus came to be born once
So that we could be born again

    It’s about God’s love
    Nailed to a tree
It’s about every drop of blood that flowed from Him when it should have been me

    It’s about the stone
    That was rolled away
So that you and I could have real life someday
So that you and I could have real life someday

    It’s about the cross
    It’s about the cross
